How much is the deposit and how/when is it paid?

We require a security deposit of € 1,000.00 which we charge to your credit card. The deposit of € 1,000.00 is due at the beginning of the rental period and will be credited to your credit card again on the day of your departure.

Are animals allowed?

As animal fans, we love cats and dogs. Unfortunately, we have to take other guests, who might be allergic to animals, into consideration. For this reason, animals are not allowed inside our apartments.

Can you smoke in the apartments?

In order to accommodate non-smokers, we cannot allow smoking in any of the apartments. However, the Andersen and Capote apartments have balconies where smoking is allowed.

How long can I rent an apartment for?

We completely understand that you feel so at home in our apartments and would ideally like to stay forever. However, there are laws and regulations that state that our apartments can only be rented for an uninterrupted duration of 12 months. The minimum booking duration of an apartment is one month, which (when not otherwise reserved) can always be extended.

How does the handing over of the apartment work?

Arrival:
We will schedule an appointment with you in advance for the handing over of the apartment. If the appointment is scheduled during our normal business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), we will arrange for a colleague to come directly to the apartment with the transponder key to hand it over to you.

If you arrive outside of our business hours, you will receive a code for the security mailbox for your particular apartment. Inside the mailbox you will find the transponder key to your apartment. All important details and information will be sent to you in a separate e-mail shortly before your arrival, as well as suggestions for an appointment so that you can still enjoy a personal hand over of the apartment.

Departure:
The latest time for checkout is 12 p.m. You can simply return all transponder and additional keys during the handing over of the apartment. This can be done either personally with our colleagues, or the keys can be returned to the safety mailbox. For a weekend checkout, you can return the transponder to the safety mailbox, for which you will be sent a code.

How does the transponder key work?

The transponder key may look a little more modern and sophisticated, but it works just like its old-school relatives. You simply hold the blue transponder key next to the locking element and wait for it to unlock. Then simply turn the locking element like a doorknob to enter.
The transponder key opens not only the building and apartment door, but also gives you access to the VAGABOO utility room. This is where laundry bags are placed for washing. You will also find a communal ironing board, iron and a vacuum cleaner. These can all be used and should be returned to their place after use for other guests. With the transponder key, you can also access the washing and drying room below the apartments.

When does the first payment need to be made?

As a safety precaution, we charge 10% of the month’s full rent, plus VAT, as soon as you have officially booked your apartment with VAGABOO. This is charged directly to a valid credit card. At the beginning of the rental, you will be charged the remaining 90% of the first month’s rent (30 days). The cost of the final cleaning (100.00 €) will be charged to the end of the rental period.

How can I extend my stay?

You can easily extend your stay if the apartment has not already been reserved by another customer. The maximum rental period over which you may rent the apartment is 12 months. If you wish to stay longer, you can simply send us an e-mail or contact us per phone.

How do I get tokens for the washing machine and dryer?

You can easily get tokens for both machines from Housekeeping. Just leave a message in your apartment stating how many tokens you require. You can also send us an e-mail or give us a call. Each token is worth € 3.00 and works for one washing or drying cycle.

How do I rent the eSmart and how can I charge it?

The eSmart rental car can be found in parking space 4 directly next to the building. It must be returned after each use and charged using the cable and fast-charging station. We use the new “ready to share” app and technology for renting the eSmart. You can check the availability of the eSmart through the app and reserve it for a set time. The car is unlocked using the app and you will find the key inside the car. After use, the key is placed back inside the car for the next renter and locked again using the app. Charging the car is no more difficult than charging a cell phone at home. The charging cable is connected to the eSmart and the charging station. It is important to always take the charging cable with you when driving. More detailed instructions are available during the handing over of the apartment.

We accept driver’s licenses issued in the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA). Other driver’s licenses are valid for 6 months from the first date of entry into Germany. For validation purposes, non-EU/EEA driver’s licenses must be accompanied by a certified translation (or an International Driver’s Permit), a passport, proof of residency in Germany, and proof of date of entry into Germany (e.g. boarding pass, entry visa, proof of residence).
